Chelsea 1979 introduces you this special version of Lotus Esprit: the V8
The Lotus Esprit V8, the latest in a saga that started in 1976 at the express request of Colin Chapman and was commissioned to design Giugiaro when he was working on ItalDesign, but very few remember it even though it is not exactly a classic,
It was discontinued in 2004 after 10,675 units since that distant 1976.
It is also a privileged sports car, because during its commercial life it was retouched and evolved by designers who today are highly respected and admired, such as Peter Stevens, who was responsible for giving it a facelift in the late 1980s, for after drawing one of the most spectacular and appreciated sports cars, the McLaren F1.
After Stevens, already in the 90s, he was none other than Julian Thompson.
Here we have the latest Lotus Esprit, which had a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 355 hp, 400 Nm and a weight of 1,380 kg with just 11,000 km.
