Marcos is een Brits automerk, opgericht in 1959 door MARsh en COStin. In 1959 bouwden ze hun eerste raceauto, waarna het merk steeds actief is gebleven in de racerij. Zo was de Mini Marcos in 1966 bijvoorbeeld de enige Britse sportwagen die Le Mans finishte.
Het merk is gedurende zijn bestaan geplaagd geweest door financiële problemen. Zo ging het merk failliet in 1971, om in 1981 weer terug te komen, nadat Marsh de rechten op de merknaam had teruggekocht in 1976. Het ging wederom failliet in 2000, maar werd nieuw leven ingeblazen door een Canadees in 2002. De race-afdeling is in Nederland gevestigd, die auto’s ontwikkelt voor GT en enduranceraces.
De Marcos Mantara werd geintroduceerd in 1992 en werd gebouwd tot 1999.
De Mantara is voorzien van een 3,9 liter Rover V8 motor en produceert 190 pk, goed voor een acceleratie van 0 naar 100 km/u van 5,4 seconden en een topsnelheid van 225 km/u!
Een Marcos op zich is al een zeldzaamheid, en zeker een link gestuurde is zeer moeilijk te vinden!
Onze Marcos dateert van juli 1995 en is dus weldra oldtimer!
Vermits Marcos de autoracerij in zijn DNA heeft, is een Marcos een echte sportwagen! Een sportwagen met een 3.9 liter V8 vooraan, wie zegt daar nee tegen?!

It went bankrupt again in 2000, but was revived by a Canadian in 2002. The racing department is based in the Netherlands, which develops cars for GT and endurance racing.
The Marcos Mantara was introduced in 1992 and was built until 1999.
The Mantara is equipped with a 3.9 liter Rover V8 engine and produces 190 hp, good for an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h!
