Description
1968 Porsche 912 Soft Window Targa
Impossible not to be charmed by this top-condition, classic Porsche 912 Targa “soft window”.
An innovative convertible concept with a stainless steel roll-bar complete with removable roof and a zip-off transparent plastic rear window. A Coupé, Targa and full convertible in one!
The “Soft Window” was only manufactured for 14 months between December 1966 (as a 1967 model) and January 1968.
Successively Porsche also made a Targa 'Version II' option available with fixed glass rear window, transforming the Targa into a coupe with removable roof.
The 912 model became the transition model between the previous 1600 4-cilinder 356 model and the new 2 liter 6-cilinder 911.
Chassis number 12870517 was delivered new on 4th of January as one of the last produced “soft window” Targa models. Finished in magnificent “Ossi Blue” over a black leatherette interior, the car was exported to Porsche dealer Poac in New Jersey, America.
In recent years the car underwent a full bare metal restoration to authenticity. Step by step demonstrable thanks to a photographic restoration file.
Strong points of this 912 are:
Pick up your sunglasses and let the sun shine again!
Comes with Belgian registration document, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, traces of USA provenance and photographic restoration history.
